Szent István University (SZIE)
Founded 1787 as Veterinary Institute of the University of Pest, became independent 1851, incorporated in University of Engineering and Economics 1934 and in University of Agriculture 1945. Became University of Veterinary Science, 1952. Due to changes in the Hungarian higher education system, University of Veterinary Science, Gödöllö University of Agricultural Sciences, University of Horticultural and Food Sciences, Miklós YBL Polytechnical College and Teacher Training College of Jászberény, Szent István University, one of Hungary’s largest institutions of higher education merged. Later on, in 2009, Tessedik Sámuel College merged with SZIE as well. Acquired present status and title 2000 as Szent István University. Under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education and Culture.
