Founded 1920, as Polytechnical School of Timişoara by a Royal Decree of King Ferdinand of Romania. Reorganized 1948 as Polytechnic Institute of Timişoara and 'Traian Vuia' Polytechnical Institute 1970. Acquired present status 1991 and present title 1996. A State institution.
