Saint-Joseph University (USJ)
Founded 1875 by the Society of Jesus. Title of University confirmed by Pope Leo XIII 1881. Faculty of Medicine established 1883 by agreement with French Government. A private institution. Received some financial assistance from the French State until 1975 when the University became an autonomous institution financed by tuition fees and government subsidies. University Regional Centres at: Ras Maska (North Lebanon), Zahlé/Hazerta (Bekaa) and Saïda-Bramieh (South Lebanon). University Foreign Centres in Abudhabi (United Arab Emirates)
