University of Miskolc (UM)
Founded 1735 as School of Mining, became Academy 1770. German replaced by Hungarian as language of instruction 1867. Reorganized at Sopron 1919, became Technical University of Heavy Industry and transferred to Miskolc 1949. Acquired present status and title 1990. Under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Culture and Education and financed by the State.
