University of Maine
Founded 1969 as Centre Universitaire under the 1968 law reforming higher education and replacing Institutions attached to former Université de Caen. Acquired full University status 1976. The University is a State institution enjoying academic and financial autonomy, operating under the jurisdiction of the Minister of Education and financed by the State.
