Founded 1829 as the first 'Grande Ecole' to train engineers, became State Institution 1857. Transferred from Paris to Châtenay-Malabry 1969. Acquired present status 1991. Under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education. A public 'Grande Ecole'.
