Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology
Founded 1887 as Melbourne Working Men's College, renamed Melbourne Technical College 1934, and acquired present title of Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) 1960. Established as University of Technology by Act of State Parliament of Victoria 1992, amalgamating with Phillip Institute of Technology. RMIT is one of Australia's largest multi-level universities offering a fully-integrated programme of courses at Diploma, Degree and Postgraduate levels. The University emphasizes education for employment and for research which uses technology to solve real world problems.
