Founded 1933 as Shanghai Dagong Private Vocational School 1953 as Shanghai Shipbuilding School. Also previously known as Eastern China Shipbuilding Institute. Renamed Jiangsu University of Science and Technology 2004 following the merging of Jiangsu Jianghai Trade School in 1999 and Silkworm Industry Institute of CAAS in 2000.
