Founded 1963. First students enrolled 1965. A downtown Vancouver campus (Simon Fraser University at Vancouver) opened 1989. Programmes at this campus focus on the advanced recurring educational needs of the urban population. The Surrey campus (Simon Fraser University Surrey) opened its doors in 2002 offering undegraduate and graduate programmes including innovative cohort programmes: Tech One, Science Year One and Explorations.
