Founded 1958 as a private University based on former Institute of Catholic Culture created in 1922. Accorded status of Pontifical University by the Holy See 1960. The University and the degrees it awards are formally recognized by the National Government. Financed by student fees and gifts. The Archbishop of Buenos Aires is Grand Chancellor.
