The University of East London (UEL)
Founded 1893 as West Ham Municipal College. Became North East London Polytechnic 1970, incorporating Waltham Forest Technical College and College of Art, West Ham College of Technology, and Barking Regional College of Technology. Became Polytechnic of East London 1989 and acquired present status and title 1992.
