Founded 1881 as University College, Dundee preparing students for external examination of the University of London. Became part of the University of St. Andrews 1897. Acquired present status and title 1967. An autonomous institution, although a significant proportion of its funding comes directly or indirectly from the Government.

Also Scottish Certificate of Education, BTec, and SCOTVEC, or foreign equivalent to above
