Founded 1853 as Conservatoire, reorganized 1880 as Conservatoire of Galician Musical Society, reorganized 1903 as Higher Music Institute named after Mykola V. Lysenko, reorganized 1939 as 'Mykola V. Lysenko' Lviv State Conservatoire, reorganized 1993 as Higher State Music Institute 'Mykola V. Lysenko', became Lviv State Academy of Music named after Mykola V. Lysenko and acquired present status and title 2007.
