University of Wrocław (UWr)
Founded 1505 as Generale Litterarum Gymnasium by decree of Ladislas Jagellon, King of Bohemia and Hungary. Jesuit College founded 1702 by Emperor Leopold I. Became a University 1811 after union with the University of Frankfurt-am-Oder. Closed as a German University and opened in 1945 as Polish University with academic staff from different Polish schools.
