Founded as Aichi Prefectural Academy 1873. Acquired university status and reorganized as Aichi Gakugei University 1949. Acquired present title 1966. Merged with Aichi Second Normal College and moved to present site 1970. Incorporated as the National University Corporation Aichi University of Education 2004.
