National University of Distance Education (UNED)
Founded 1972 by decree to give access to higher education to those who, by reason of their place of residence, work or other obligations, are unable to attend university. First students admitted 1973. Based in Madrid, the University has 61 regional centres across the country. The degrees and diplomas awarded enjoy the same status as those awarded by other universities in Spain.
