National University of Science and Technology MISIS (MISIS)
Founded 1918 as a course offered at the Metallurgical Faculty of Moscow Mining Academy (MMA). Became Moscow Institute of Steel (MIS), separated from MMA, became an independent institution of Higher Education 1930. Merged with Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals and Gold to become the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys 1962, and became Gosudarstvennyj Technologicheskij Universitet "Moskovskij Institut Stali i Splavov" in 1993. Acquired current title and status in 2009.
