Founded 1926 as Higher School of Fine Arts, moved to Timişoara 1932. Reorganized as Romanian Institute of Arts 1948, and as Academia de Artă Vizuale Ioan Andreescu din Cluj-Napoca 1990. Acquired present status and title 2002.
