Founded in 1946 as State Higher School of Education. Bears the name of the Commission of the National Education created in Poland in 1773 as the first ministry of national education in Europe. MA awarded 1954, renamed 1973. Became Akademia Pedagogiczna im. Komisji Edukacji Narodowej w Krakowie (Pedagogical Academy of Cracow of the National Education Commission) 1999. Acquired present title 2008.
