Founded 1933 as Ateneo de Cagayan by Jesuit missionary Fr. James T.G. Hayes, S.J. Acquired present title 1958. A private institution recognized by the Department of Education, Culture and Sports, and the Commission on Higher Education. The University works in consortium with 'Ateneo de Davao' and 'Ateneo de Zamboanga' Universities.
