Central Philippine University (CPU)
Founded 1905 as Jaro Industrial School by American Baptist Foreign Mission Society. Became High School 1915, Junior College 1922, Senior College 1938. Acquired University status 1953 and placed under Filipino control 1969. The University is a private institution, financed by tuition fees and grants, operating under the supervision of the Commission of Higher Education and the Department of Education, Culture and Sports.
