University of Humanistic Studies (UvH)
Created in 1989 to educate humanist counselors, teachers and scientists and to shape and steer the science of Humanistic Studies. Acquired current status 2003. As a denominational university the University of Humanistic Studies is a private institution mainly funded by the government. Humanistic Studies is a multidisciplinary science focusing on issues relating to worldviews, meanings of life, and the pursuit of a humane society. It draws on philosophy, psychology, pedagogics, sociology, religious and cultural studies, socio-political studies and research methodology. Humanist traditions and values are an important source of inspiration. Humanistic Studies centres on two principal concepts: humanisation and meanings of life.

- Admission details: Secondary school (VWO) certificate, or recognized equivalent. A good command of English.
