Yangon University (YU)
Founded 1878 as Rangoon College incorporating Government College, Rangoon, and Judson College, both established in the late 19th century and formerly affiliated to the University of Calcutta. Closed during the Japanese occupation of Burma and reopened as University of Rangoon 1946. Reorganized and acquired current title and status 1964.
